나노 형태로 물질을 시장 출시하는 업체의 경우 등록서류에 어떤 정보가 요구되는지 명확히 하고자 하는REACH 개정안이 채택되었습니다. 해당 개정은 2020년 1월부터 적용됩니다.

REACH 부속서의 개정으로, 업계에서 나노 물질에 대한 데이터도 제공하도록 하고 있습니다.
개정된 REACH 부속서는 나노 물지 등록에 대하여 기존 정보 요구 사항을 명확히 하고, 새로 추가되는 요구 정보 또한 도입하였습니다.
예시로서, 나노 물질의 특성/특성범위가 확인되어야 하며, 나노 물질의 특성에 맞춘 시험자료가 요구될 수 있습니다.

개정으로 인해 나노 물질을 수입/제조하는 경우 새로운 요구사항에 맞춘 등록 업데이트가 필요할 것으로 보입니다.
참고로 EU Commission의 권고에 따른 나노물질의 정의는 다음과 같습니다.

A natural, incidental or manufactured material containing particles, in an unbound state or as an aggregate or as an agglomerate and where, for 50 % or more of the particles in the number size distribution, one or more external dimensions is in the size range 1 nm - 100 nm.
In specific cases and where warranted by concerns for the environment, health, safety or competitiveness the number size distribution threshold of 50 % may be replaced by a threshold between 1 and 50 %.
By derogation from the above, fullerenes, graphene flakes and single wall carbon nanotubes with one or more external dimensions below 1 nm should be considered as nanomaterials.
